American String Quartet Beloved by Taos — and the world — the ASQ kicks off TCMG’s anniversary season with Haydn’s D minor Quartet, Op. 76, No. 2, "Quinten", Shostakovich’s Quartet No. 8 in C minor, Op. 110, Samuel Barber’s soulful Adagio for strings, and Mendelssohn’s effervescent Quartet in D Major, Op. 44, No. 1.

Special Anniversary Event with Robert Mirabal

Taos Community Auditorium

Robert Mirabal Chamber music Taos−style features renowned Pueblo musician Robert Mirabal in collaboration with TCMG flutist Nancy Laupheimer and cellist Sally Guenther, and composer/performer Paul Fowler, who has written a work for the quartet to celebrate Taos and TCMG’s anniversary. A broad palette of music also includes compositions by Mirabal, crossover composer Rhonda Larson, and Antonio Vivaldi.

Baroque Holiday Concert

Taos Community Auditorium

Carmelo de los Santos TCMG’s popular Baroque program presents music that adds to the sparkle of the holidays. A full ensemble of flutes, violins, viola, cello, bass and harpsichord will perform Bach’s Fourth Brandenburg Concerto and Handel’s Water Music, as well as concertos by Vivaldi and Tartini.

Robert Tweten & Kirsten Lear Performed during the sign of Aquarius, music that relates to water and air will include Franz Schubert’s Trout Quintet, Eugene Goosens’ Five Impressions of a Holiday for flute, cello and piano, and featuring mezzo−soprano Kirsten Lear, a Bach Aria and songs by Henri Duparc.

Sally Guenther The music of two iconic composers — Bach and Messiaen — is combined in recognition of the centenary of Messiaen’s birth. His deeply moving and powerful Quartet for the End of Time is the centerpiece of the program which also includes two works by Bach — the Trio Sonata, BWV 1020 in G minor and the First Suite in G Major for solo cello — as well as Messiaen’s birdsong−inspired La Merle Noir for flute and piano.

Hilary Tann The music of this season’s composer−in−residence, Hilary Tann, is featured in a program inspired by nature. Originally from Wales, Tann’s compositions are informed by her native landscape and her current home in New York’s Adirondack Mountains as well as the traditional music of Japan. A slide show of photographs will accompany her music as well as TCMG Director Nancy Laupheimer’s Zephyr for alto flute and cello. Antonin Dvorak’s "Dumky" Piano Trio rounds out the program.

Rosalind Simpson The feminine is highlighted in these Mother’s Day concerts, as five women perform music for harp, flute, violin, viola and cello by French composer Camille Saint−Saens, Max Reger from Germany, Zoltan Kodaly from Hungary, Nino Rota (who wrote the music for The Godfather and Romeo and Juliet) from Italy, and Belgian composer Joseph Jongen.
